I walked to one building that was close, a huge white-washed wooden building that had ivy growing up the sides and these enormous columns. (note: I unfortunately didn't get any good ivy pictures) When I got closer, I saw these plaques that told me that these various pieces of ivy were from all sorts of different places in the world, one was from Westminister Abbey, another from some church in Spain, and while most of the vines were dead, a couple still had green leaves on them. According to the plaques, all of the vines were nearly one hundred years old. > |
